Jane’s Addiction has officially canceled the remainder of their 2024 tour and announced an indefinite hiatus following an onstage altercation between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro. The incident occurred during their Sept. 13 performance in Boston, which escalated into a physical confrontation. Farrell was escorted off the stage by crew members, and the band quickly issued an apology on social media the next day.

In their initial post, Jane’s Addiction informed fans of the cancelation of their Sept. 15 show in Bridgeport, Connecticut. However, in two new statements released on Sept. 16, the band shared that they had decided to cancel the rest of the tour. “To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be canceling the remainder of the tour,” the statement read. They assured ticket holders that refunds would be provided at the point of purchase.

Band Members Issued Apology to Fans

Navarro, along with bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, also posted a message on Instagram addressing the situation. “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current U.S. tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the statement explained. The trio expressed regret over not being able to deliver for their fans, adding, “Our hearts are broken.”

On Monday, Farrell took to Instagram to issue a public apology to his bandmates and fans. “This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” Farrell wrote. He admitted his behavior was inexcusable, stating:

“I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

The Boston Incident

The altercation in Boston started when Farrell began shouting at Navarro and bumping into him toward the end of their show at Leader Bank Pavilion. When Navarro tried to defend himself, Farrell struck him, leading to the singer being removed from the stage. The band issued a public apology the following day, explaining the cancelation of the Bridgeport show.

The tour was initially set to end on Oct. 16 in Los Angeles.
