Jake Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet Launches New Band MIRADOR with Powerful New Single!

Jake Kiszka of Grammy Award-winning band Greta Van Fleet and Chris Turpin of the British Americana duo Ida Mae have joined forces to form MIRADOR. This genre-defying rock band blends blues, folk, and mythic storytelling. Their latest single, “Fortune’s Fate”, has just been released ahead of their self-titled debut album, Mirador, due out September 19 via Republic Records.

The band describes “Fortune’s Fate” as a song rooted in yearning and escape — a metaphorical journey between comfort and the unknown. “It’s about chasing destiny at great personal cost,” MIRADOR shares. “As artists, we constantly walk the line between ecstasy and disaster. This track captures that duality, guided by fate and love that transcends lifetimes.”

Building a Mythology of Their Own

MIRADOR is more than just a collaboration between two acclaimed musicians — it’s a deliberate effort to craft a new sonic mythology. Inspired by early rock ’n’ roll, Delta blues, folklore, and British folk traditions, the project reflects both artists’ deep reverence for music’s spiritual roots.

“Our world lives in those traditions,” says Turpin. “We’re fascinated by the mysticism — stories of meeting the devil at the crossroads, losing your soul to the wind.”

Kiszka adds, “We’re hyper-aware of our lineage, so we can build something truly original. Once we stepped into uncharted territory, we knew we were on the right path.”

Joining Kiszka and Turpin are Mikey Sorbello on drums and Nick Pini on bass and keys. Together, they’ve crafted an ambitious debut, recorded live in under two weeks with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) in Savannah, Georgia. The album channels the raw energy built during their opening run on Greta Van Fleet’s 2024 “Starcatcher” world tour.

“By the time we hit the studio, we had this frenetic energy from the road,” says Turpin. “Dave helped us capture that live spirit.” Kiszka agrees: “If we hadn’t been forged under pressure, the record wouldn’t have this kind of soul.”

Tour Expansion and a Bold New Sound

Following their breakout performances across major U.S. arenas, MIRADOR will embark on a European headlining tour in November, with stops in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, London, and Dublin. Their North American tour has also been expanded due to overwhelming demand — initial dates sold out immediately, prompting the addition of larger venues in New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles, as well as new shows in New Orleans, Boston, Austin, Portland, and more.

The album Mirador opens with “Feels Like Gold”, featuring wave-like guitar riffs and a towering chorus. “Fortune’s Fate” follows with an emotional crescendo grounded in bluesy grit. “Heels of the Hunt” brings rapid-fire drumming and raw energy, while the closing track, “Skyway Drifter”, starts with gentle fingerpicking before erupting into cathartic release.

“For me, it would be beautiful if this became an all-consuming experience for listeners — like watching a film in a dark cinema,” Kiszka reflects. “We want to immerse people in the world of MIRADOR — the soul, the struggle, the adventure. This album is important to us, and we believe it has something to say in the ongoing story of rock ’n’ roll.”
