Jack Osbourne has shared a poignant video tribute to his late father, Ozzy Osbourne, titled Some Memories of My Father. The video, posted on YouTube, features a touching mix of childhood clips, family photos, and the soundtrack of Ozzy’s song “So Tired,” weaving a heartfelt narrative of their bond over the years.
In the video description, Jack revealed the difficulty of sharing his feelings publicly since Ozzy’s passing. “I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much,” he wrote. “He was so many things to so many people, but I was lucky and blessed to be part of a very small group who got to call him ‘Dad.’ My heart is heavy with sadness and sorrow, but also full of love and gratitude. I got 14,501 days with that man, and I know what a blessing that is.”
Remembering Ozzy: A Life Lived Loudly
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22 at the age of 76, only 17 days after his farewell concert Back to the Beginning. Jack’s tribute references a quote from Hunter S. Thompson that perfectly captures his father’s spirit:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!’ That was my dad. He lived — and he lived fully. I love you Dad.”
This sentiment reflects the legendary rocker’s fearless and larger-than-life approach to music and life.
The Final Farewell: Funeral and Cause of Death
Ozzy’s official death certificate, signed by his daughter Aimee, cites cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease as causes of death and confirms his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Listed simply as “songwriter, performer and rock legend,” his legacy is firmly cemented in rock history.
A funeral procession was held in Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham, England, on July 30, followed by a private service at the family’s estate in Buckinghamshire the next day.
