Sharon Osbourne has clarified exactly how much money the Back to the Beginning concert raised for charity, speaking on a recent episode of The Osbournes podcast. According to Sharon, the star-studded farewell performance by Ozzy Osbourne, held just weeks before his death, brought in $11 million.

While impressive, this figure is far short of the $190 million previously claimed by musical director Tom Morello.

Debunking the $190 Million Claim

Sharon addressed the financial rumors and scoffed at the inflated numbers circulating in the media, including reports from outlets like Loudwire. “If one show could have raised … I mean, it was up to like, $190 million,” she said incredulously. “It’s like, any artist, just do one big show, film it and you can retire just on one show.”

She emphasized that while the concert didn’t reach the staggering totals some reports suggested, the event was still a remarkable achievement. “No, it was nowhere near — and I wish that it was, but we’re living in reality,” she said.

Sharon also explained that all costs were covered, from accommodations to travel. “No one got paid. Nobody asked for a penny. They gave their time, their efforts, everything for free,” she added.

A Star-Studded Triumph

Even without record-breaking profits, Back to the Beginning was a massive success. The all-day concert featured legendary performances from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, and the original Black Sabbath lineup, alongside Ozzy himself.

Held at Villa Park in Black Sabbath’s hometown of Birmingham, England, the event drew over 40,000 fans in person and an estimated 5.8 million online viewers, cementing its status as a landmark moment in rock history.
