Mule-O-Ween Weekend Kicks Off

Gov’t Mule marked Halloween weekend with a three-night Mule-O-Ween celebration that began on Thursday at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Connecticut. The shows continued in Washington, D.C., and wrapped up in Philadelphia, each night offering a mix of originals and classic covers.

Their New Haven performance featured a diverse setlist that included renditions of Al Green’s “I’m A Ram” and The Band’s “Stage Fright.” The band ended the night with “Fallen Down” followed by an instrumental jam of “The Other One” during the encore. The night set the tone for what would become one of their most memorable themed weekends.

Gov’t Mule’s Aerosmith Tribute in D.C.

On Halloween night at D.C.’s Warner Theatre, Gov’t Mule took the stage dressed in a musical costume inspired by Aerosmith. The second set was performed in honor of Philadelphia rock radio icon Pierre Robert, who passed away earlier that week.

The band played through Aerosmith’s catalog in chronological order, beginning with songs from the 1973 self-titled debut and moving into tracks from Get Your Wings (1974). Dirty Honey frontman Marc LaBelle joined in for the set’s second half, adding his vocals to high-energy performances of “Back In The Saddle,” “Last Child,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dream On,” and “Walk This Way.” The group closed the set with “Mama Kin” and returned for an encore with the blues standard “The Train Kept A-Rollin’,” a song famously covered by Aerosmith and last played by Gov’t Mule in 2018.

Corey Glover Joins in Philadelphia

The Halloween spirit carried over to the next night at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, where Gov’t Mule reprised the full Aerosmith set for their tour finale. This time, Living Colour vocalist Corey Glover took over lead vocals for the same lineup of Aerosmith classics performed the previous night by LaBelle.

The Philadelphia crowd was treated to Glover’s powerful performances on songs like “Back In The Saddle,” “Dream On,” and “Walk This Way.” Once again, the band closed the show — and the entire weekend — with “The Train Kept A-Rollin’,” bringing an explosive finish to their Back In The Saddle Tour.
