New Album and Single Revealed

Glenn Hughes, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and former frontman of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, has announced a new single and album. The track, Voice In My Head, is from his upcoming album Chosen, which will be released on September 5, 2025, through Frontiers Music Srl.

Speaking about the new single, Glenn said, “*‘Voice In My Head’ tells the story of what’s goin’ on in my subconscious mind. It’s a song that most definitely needed to be written. Very therapeutic. We all have ‘this voice.’ Observe, recognize and be a witness, & let go…”

A Personal Album After Nine Years

It’s been nine years since Glenn released his last solo record Resonate. He said, “Songwriting is deeply personal to me, and l generally write and record when I have something to say.” He added that Chosen came from writing about “the human condition, love, hope, faith, and acceptance.”

He continued, “My life is lived from within, in the present moment. It’s an album of soul food, and I’ve never been so grateful, right here, on planet earth. Music is the healer!”

Glenn Hughes will also launch The Chosen Years tour across Europe and South America starting September 2 in the Netherlands and ending November 29 in Colombia.

Career Highlights and Legacy

Born in Cannock, England, Glenn’s influences range from The Beatles to soul and Motown. He first gained success with Trapeze in the early ’70s, later joining Deep Purple during a major lineup shift in 1973. That version of the band released Burn, followed by Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band before disbanding in 1976.

He released his solo debut Play Me Out in 1977 and formed Hughes/Thrall in 1982. Over the years, he worked with many artists including Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, and John Norum.

Recent Collaborations and Band Lineup

Since 1992, Glenn has released several solo albums while collaborating with musicians like Chad Smith, Dave Navarro, and Joe Bonamassa. He’s been part of bands like California Breed, Black Country Communion, and The Dead Daisies.

In 2025, he appeared on Robbie Williams’ track Rocket, featuring Tony Iommi. Glenn also joined Joe Satriani and Steve Vai’s project Satch Vai on the single I Wanna Play My Guitar.
