A Global Tour Turned Cinematic Event
David Gilmour has released pro-shot concert footage of his moving performance of “Wish You Were Here,” taken from his upcoming live album and concert film The Luck and Strange Concerts and Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome. The projects showcase his acclaimed 2024 Luck and Strange tour, which supported his fifth solo album of the same name.
The album became a global success, topping charts in the UK, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Portugal, and Austria, while reaching No. 2 in France, Italy, and Belgium. It also landed in the Top 10 across the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
The tour began with two sold-out warm-up shows at the Brighton Centre before Gilmour took the stage for six nights at Rome’s Circus Maximus, followed by sold-out runs at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome and Hollywood Bowl, and five final nights at Madison Square Garden in New York. In total, all 23 shows sold out, with fans worldwide calling it a return to form for one of rock’s most distinctive guitarists.

The Film and Album Releases
Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome was filmed by longtime Gilmour collaborator Gavin Elder, capturing the musician’s first tour in nearly a decade. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Rome’s ancient ruins, the concert film premiered globally in cinemas and IMAX on September 17, released through Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing.
The performance film will be available on October 17 as a 2-Blu-ray or 3-DVD set, complete with previously unseen footage and full 5.1 and Atmos mixes (Blu-ray only). The companion live album, The Luck and Strange Concerts, features 23 tracks recorded from various tour stops, available in 4LP or 2CD formats.
Highlights include new material like “Between Two Points” featuring Romany Gilmour, alongside classic Pink Floyd staples such as “Sorrow,” “High Hopes,” “Breathe (In the Air),” “Time,” “Wish You Were Here,” and “Comfortably Numb.”
A Deluxe Tribute to Gilmour’s Legacy
A super deluxe edition of the release includes all formats plus a 120-page hardcover book, David Gilmour Luck and Strange Live, featuring tour photography by Polly Samson.
