A Rift That Won’t Heal
Pink Floyd fans hoping for a reunion between David Gilmour and Roger Waters will have to give up that dream. In a new interview with The Telegraph, Gilmour made it clear that there is “no possible way” he would ever perform with Waters again.
The guitarist and his wife, Polly Samson, spoke about their ongoing tension with Waters, which resurfaced in early 2023. At the time, Samson publicly criticized Waters on X after he made pro-Vladimir Putin remarks. She accused him of being “anti-Semitic to your rotten core” and called him “a Putin apologist.” Gilmour supported her post, adding, “every word demonstrably true.”

Drawing a Line
In the interview, Samson explained why she felt the need to speak out. She said it was “because Pink Floyd are quite a faceless band,” and many people didn’t distinguish between its members.
“Everywhere I went, there’s a chance that people thought I was married to the one who said things like that. And it wasn’t a great feeling,” Samson said. “If they knew you’re married to someone from Pink Floyd, half the time people were giving me quite strange looks and it was really uncomfortable and I just wanted to draw a line and make it clear that these were not views held by me or the person I was married to.”
When asked if reconciliation with Waters was possible, Gilmour didn’t hesitate. “Nothing,” he replied. “There is no possible way that I would do that.”
