Gene Simmons surprised fans on Sunday when he reunited with Kiss bandmates Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer during his performance at the Harley-Davidson Love Ride in Castaic, California.

The Demon delivered an energetic 11-song set with his Gene Simmons Band, featuring a mix of classic Kiss hits and fan favorites. The night reached a high point when Thayer and Singer joined him on stage for the final stretch of the performance.

Thayer took over guitar duties for the last three numbers — “Let Me Go, Rock ’n’ Roll,” “Calling Dr. Love,” and the iconic “Rock and Roll All Nite.” Singer sat behind the drum kit for the first two of those songs, locking in with Simmons for a brief but memorable Kiss reunion moment. Fans captured the performance on video, celebrating the rare onstage pairing.

A Nod to Ace Frehley and a Van Halen Deep Cut

Simmons’ set included some powerful tributes and surprises. Among them was a cover of Van Halen’s “House of Pain,” a song the band originally demoed under Simmons’ mentorship before releasing their debut album in 1978.

One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Simmons performed “Cold Gin,” dedicating it to original Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, who passed away last month.

“That one’s for you, buddy,” Simmons told the crowd. “It’s heartbreaking that he’s not here to see your lovely faces and how much you like his song.”

The dedication reminded fans of the deep bonds forged in the early years of Kiss and added a poignant layer to an already electric evening.

When Will Kiss Play Together Again?

Sunday’s reunion marked the first time Simmons, Thayer, and Singer had performed together since December 2, 2023, when Kiss officially wrapped their End of the Road farewell tour alongside co-frontman Paul Stanley.

All four classic-era members are set to reunite again at Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas, a special Las Vegas event designed to replicate the feel of the iconic floating festival — with unmasked electric and acoustic sets for fans to enjoy up close. The lineup also includes Sebastian Bach, Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini, Quiet Riot, and former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick.

“The cool thing is, you don’t need a ship,” Stanley said in a video announcing the event. “We’ve got everything that you get on a Kiss Kruise. We’ve got other bands playing. We’re doing a full set … we’ll be playing all the songs you wanna hear.”

For fans, the Land-Locked event offers more than music — it’s a celebration of a band that continues to captivate audiences decades into their career, proving that Kiss still knows how to keep the flame of rock ’n’ roll burning bright.
