Collision on the Pacific Coast Highway

Gene Simmons, the longtime bassist and co-founder of Kiss, was briefly hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after crashing his car into a parked vehicle on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, Simmons told officers at the scene that he either passed out or fainted while driving. Police said his car “careened across several lanes of traffic” before striking another vehicle. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, later confirmed that the 75-year-old rocker was recovering at home. She explained that his doctors had recently adjusted his medications and added that dehydration may have contributed to the incident. Tweed also noted, somewhat lightheartedly, that her husband has been instructed—against his usual habits—to “drink more water.”

Recovery and Reassurance

To calm fans’ concerns, Simmons personally reached out to NBC 4 and left a voicemail message assuring everyone that he was fine. The following day, he shared another update on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us [who] were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

The post quickly spread among Kiss fans, many of whom responded with relief and support. Despite the scare, Simmons appeared to maintain his sense of humor about the situation, even joking about his driving skills.

Upcoming Kiss Reunion Shows

Simmons’ accident comes just weeks before Kiss is set to reunite for their first performance together since wrapping their End of the Road farewell tour in December 2023. The band announced they will appear at Kiss Kruise: Land Locked in Vegas, a special three-day event taking place November 14–16 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

The performances will feature both electric and acoustic unmasked sets, marking a rare opportunity for fans to see the rock icons outside of their traditional makeup and stage spectacle.

Health Concerns Within the Kiss Family

The timing of Simmons’ accident coincided with health news from another original Kiss member, Ace Frehley, who revealed that he would cancel his remaining 2025 tour dates due to unspecified “ongoing medical issues.”

In late September, Frehley explained that he had suffered “a minor fall” in his home recording studio. While he assured fans he was recovering, the announcement raised concerns among longtime followers of the band.

As both rock veterans focus on their health, fans are hopeful that Kiss’s upcoming Las Vegas shows will still go on as planned — with Simmons back on his feet and, as always, in high spirits.
