Rock legend Gene Simmons is back home and recovering after a minor car crash on California’s Pacific Coast Highway earlier this week.
The Kiss co-founder was briefly hospitalized on Tuesday after his car struck a parked vehicle in Malibu. According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, Simmons told police he may have blacked out or fainted behind the wheel, causing his car to veer across multiple lanes before the collision.
His wife, Shannon Tweed, confirmed he’s now resting at home. She explained that doctors recently adjusted his medications and that dehydration may have played a role in the incident. “He’s under strict orders to stay hydrated—even if he doesn’t want to,” she noted.
Simmons later left a voicemail with the station assuring fans that he’s okay, and followed up with a light-hearted post on X (formerly Twitter):
“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us [who] were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”
Kiss Set to Reunite Onstage
Despite the scare, Simmons is expected to appear with Kiss next month at the Kiss Kruise: Land Locked in Vegas event. The band will perform both electric and acoustic sets—without their signature makeup—at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas from November 14 to 16. It will be their first time playing together since the conclusion of their End of the Road farewell tour in December 2023.
Former Guitarist Faces Health Setback
Simmons’ incident occurred just a day after former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley announced he was canceling his remaining 2025 tour dates due to ongoing health concerns. The guitarist did not disclose the nature of the issue but previously canceled a show in late September after suffering a minor fall in his home studio.
While both rock veterans face recent health challenges, fans remain hopeful for their continued recovery—and, in Simmons’ case, a swift return to the stage.
