Elton John recently opened up about his ongoing battle with vision loss, sharing a heartfelt update in an interview. In September, the legendary singer revealed that a summer eye infection had left him with “limited vision” in one eye.
During a conversation with Good Morning America, he shared more about the toll it’s taken. He explained:
“I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France.
“It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest.”
While John is taking steps to address the problem, he acknowledges how much it has impacted his daily life. He said during the interview:
“I can do something like this.
“But going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Because I can’t see a lyric for a start. … It kind of floored me. I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”
Celebrating New Projects Amid Challenges
Despite his struggles, Elton is focusing on the positives. He recently teamed up with Brandi Carlile on a new song, “Never Too Late.” The track, which was inspired by his upcoming documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, reflects his enduring creative spirit. The documentary is set to premiere on Disney+ on Dec. 13, offering fans a closer look at his life and journey.
John is Grateful Amidst Challenges
Elton also took a moment to express his gratitude for the many blessings in his life, even during this challenging time. John said in the interview:
“I’m so proud of the documentary.
“I’m proud of my sons. I’m proud of my attitude towards myself and what’s going on. I’m just very lucky and I’m very grateful.”
Through all the obstacles, Elton John continues to inspire with his resilience. There’s just no amount of adversity that could dull his light from shining.
