Elton John and Brandi Carlile have teamed up to release a brand-new song, “Never Too Late”, inspired by the upcoming documentary Elton John: Never Too Late. This heartfelt collaboration grew out of Carlile’s reaction to an early cut of the film, which captures John’s extraordinary life and decision to step away from touring to focus on family.

John shared in a social media post:

“When Brandi told me she wanted us to write a song after watching the documentary, I was thrilled.
“We loved the collaboration so much that it became the title for the film.”

A Full-Circle Moment for Brandi Carlile

Working with Elton John was nothing short of a dream come true for Carlile. She said in a heartfelt post:

“I think everyone knows how I feel about this man.
“I would never have played a piano chord or written a word without my heroes Elton John and Bernie Taupin.”

John reciprocated the admiration, praising Carlile’s unique gift as a songwriter. “I’m constantly astonished by her craft. She can channel my voice in a way only Bernie has managed to do before. I know Bernie helped guide Brandi on that,” he said. Co-writing Never Too Late with Carlile proved to be a deeply personal experience, especially as the film highlights the emotional journey of leaving the stage to embrace a new chapter in life.

The Documentary Premiere

Directed by R.J. Cutler and Elton’s husband, David Furnish, Elton John: Never Too Late offers an intimate look at John’s legendary career and his life beyond the spotlight. The film celebrates his influence as a rock icon while showcasing his roles as a loving husband and father.

Set for a limited theatrical release on November 15 in the U.S. and U.K., the documentary will debut on Disney+ on December 13.

“It not only cements Elton’s role as one of the most important and influential figures in rock ‘n’ roll history, but it offers an insight into what an incredible husband and father he is – and the peace and serenity he found later in life.”
Carlile said, emphasizing how John’s legacy continues to inspire generations.

Fans can listen to Never Too Late now and catch a glimpse of the man behind the music when the documentary premieres.
