This Early Creedence Clearwater Revival “Tombstone Shadow” LIVE Practice Will Really Make You Think

Long Live CCR
We absolutely worship John Fogerty, however, we all know it was no secret that he could be a bit overwhelming to the rest of the group and ultimately caused the departure of his brother Tom Fogerty in the late ’70s.
This video clearly displays the control that John could not help but to assert over Creedence during this practice of “Tombstone Shadow” and short interview of the Southern soul of rock.
Tom was quoted saying ” no new member could endure being in Creedence Clearwater Revival.”
With those incredible vocals, that raspy southern soul spewing from Tom’s mouth, we don’t want to listen to anything else!
Fun Fact: Tom Fogerty is John’s older brother. He was four years older then the other members and was 18 while the rest were still 14. The band was originally called Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets.
Regardless of the band’s internal issues, we still love them nonetheless and the beautiful and timeless, whole-hearted rock they created…
+ Tombstone Shadow Lyrics +
Tombstone shadow, stretchin’ across my path.
Tombstone shadow, stretchin’ across my path.
Ev’ry time I get some good news, Ooh,
There’s a shadow on my back.
Saw the gypsy man, ‘way down in San Berdoo.
Said, I saw the gypsy man, ‘way down in San Berdoo.
Five dollars on the table, Ooh,
Keep me ‘way from my tomb.
Oh! Oh!
Said I got thirteen months of bad luck,
Bound to be some pain.
Don’t you do no trav’lin’,
Fly in no machines.
Tombstone shadow, stretchin’ across my path.
Ev’ry time I get some good news, Ooh,
There’s a shadow on my back.
The man gave me a luck charm, Cost five dollars more,
Said, “Put some on your pillow, and put some on your door.”
He said, “Take a long vacation, Ooh,
For thirteen months or more.”
Oh, Lord!
Tombstone shadow, stretchin’ across my path.
Tombstone shadow, stretchin’ across my path.
Ev’ry time I get some good news, Ooh,
There’s a shadow on my back.
Oh, oh, Lord!
Oh, Lord!
