The first fully inclusive international multi-sport event, Commonwealth games, is set to take place in Birmingham, England this year with ceremonial traditions, including the athletes’ parade and stunning firework finale.

The opening ceremony will open the event with spectacle and emotion through various performances, including their own Duran Duran and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. The two acts will share the stage together with other musicians across the region, some of them are Grammy awardees.

Birmingham’s Opening and Closing ceremonies will be staged at the newly-redeveloped Alexander Stadium in front of a live audience of over 30,000 people and will be aired in a television audience of over a billion. The said event is being awaited and held every four years.

An event wherein all 54 nations of the Commonwealth are welcome to join. Unlike Sea games, Pan American games, or European games, this tournament is not continental based. The upcoming one will be hosted in Birmingham, England.

In preparation for the big event, the organizers have thoughtfully created a line up of musicians and artists that will perform on the opening and closing day. Singer of Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon, said in an interview:

“The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is a momentous event for the great city of Birmingham. And we in Duran Duran are honoured to be a part of it in our home town.”
