Anthony Zecca, the 13-year-old step-grandson of reality television star Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman, was fatally shot over the weekend in what is being described as a tragic and accidental incident. The shooting occurred at an apartment in Naples, Florida, on Saturday evening, reportedly involving the boy’s father, Gregory Zecca — the son of Chapman’s wife, Francie Frane.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one person was killed in the incident, which they described as “isolated.” Deputies responded to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. No arrests have been made, and officials have not publicly identified either the victim or the shooter as the investigation remains ongoing.

Family Confirms Tragic Loss

Though law enforcement has not confirmed identities, Chapman addressed the situation through a representative in a statement to TMZ.

“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony,” the statement read.

Chapman and Frane United Through Shared Grief

Duane Chapman, 73, rose to prominence through A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter (2004–2012), as well as subsequent series such as Dog and Beth: On the Hunt and Dog’s Most Wanted. He married Francie Frane in 2021, two years after the death of his fifth wife, Beth Smith.

Frane, who also lost her husband to cancer, spoke in a 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight about their bond: “We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling… it brought us together in this amazing way.”

The investigation into the shooting continues.
