David Gilmour recently sparked excitement among fans by hinting that Pink Floyd might embrace a cutting-edge future with virtual avatar performances, akin to what ABBA has pioneered. During a Q&A at the UK premiere of his concert film Live At Circus Maximus, Rome at London’s BFI IMAX, Gilmour teased the possibility of the band’s next chapter unfolding in a revolutionary Las Vegas venue known as The Sphere. When asked about rumors surrounding this modern arena, Gilmour expressed his eagerness to one day watch his “avatar” perform, joking that it would spare him the effort of taking the stage himself.
Reflecting on the Luck And Strange Tour
Gilmour’s comments came amid reflections on last year’s Luck And Strange tour, which saw the band perform at four historic venues, including London’s Royal Albert Hall and Rome’s Circus Maximus. A year after the tour’s release, Gilmour remains deeply proud of the work, describing it as “magic” and “the best I’ve done… forever.” He also praised the band members for their exceptional musical skills and warm presence, calling them not only talented but “generally lovely” people, highlighting the strong camaraderie that made the performances so special.
