Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro recently revealed that he has unreleased music recorded with the late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
Navarro and Hawkins were close friends, sharing a deep respect for each other’s musical work. In late 2021, they announced the formation of a new band called NHC. It was an acronym for the group’s three members—Navarro, Hawkins, and bassist Chris Chaney.
Tragically, just a few months after NHC was introduced, Hawkins passed away while on tour with Foo Fighters in South America. The sudden loss of his friend deeply affected Navarro. Navarro shared in a recent interview with Rolling Stone:
“Once we lost Taylor, I didn’t pick up a guitar for a very long time.
“It was a very long time because that was one of the more painful losses in my life, for sure.”
Navarro Hopes NHC Album Will Be Released
Navarro confirmed that NHC recorded an album that remains unreleased. While the guitarist is hopeful it will eventually see the light of day, he’s unsure when that might happen. Navarro explained:
“We have a completed, mastered album, but this might be a little soon [to release].
“I don’t really know where that stands, but I’ll tell you that I really believe that it deserves to come out, because that record to me, really showcased what a brilliant all-around musician Taylor was. He wrote most of the songs, played the drums, and sang them.”
The guitarist emphasized the importance of sharing Hawkins’ talent with the world. Navarro continued:
“His overall musicianship, I think, really deserves to be known and highlighted.
“So I really hope it sees the light of day. But yeah, that was one of the most happy experiences of my life, making that record with him. Obviously, I haven’t been able to listen to it since.”
