A New Era for a Classic Rock Band
Original AC/DC frontman Dave Evans is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his former band Rabbit with a new album titled Defenders of Rock, set for worldwide release on October 31 via Savant Guarde Records.
Defenders of Rock carries the energy of classic Australian rock, filled with powerful hooks and riffs that honor the sound that first made Rabbit a force in the 1970s. The title track features fiery guitar work from Mark Tinson, the band’s co-founder and main songwriter, while Evans delivers the same electric vocal presence that made him one of Australia’s original rock voices.
Defenders of Rock Returns to Form
The album combines old-school rock and roll with the band’s signature pub-rock attitude and blues grit. Each song runs for about three and a half minutes, creating a fast-paced set that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. “Defenders of Rock flies straight out of the gate and works itself into a fury but leaves you wanting just a little bit more,” the band shared.
Evans expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “I was very excited when fellow Rabbit member, Mark Tinson, approached me about doing another Rabbit album. Mark and I never stopped working together; recording through the years with other projects and collaborating on my solo recordings.”
He added, “The time seemed right for the mighty Rabbit to have a say once again in the world of rock. This album really makes a statement about the state of rock music today and the never say die attitude of true rockers. It’s all killer, no filler and we hope rock fans all over the world will love our new work and be inspired to KEEP ROCKIN¨ !!!”

Honoring the Past, Playing for the Future
The record’s first single, “We’ll Never Get Too Much Rock n Roll,” was released in 2023. The track nods to their early years, echoing the band’s beginnings in 1975 with the lyric, “we started a fire back in ‘75 and we can’t put it out, it’s still burning wild.”
The title also pays tribute to Rabbit’s 1976 song Too Much Rock n Roll. Evans continues to share teasers for the album, including Let’s Get Loud, which features former Rose Tattoo drummer Scott Johnston.
Dave Evans: The Rock Survivor
Evans first gained fame as the original vocalist of AC/DC, performing with the band from November 1973 to September 1974. He was part of their debut single “Can I Sit Next to You Girl?” and the early recording of “Baby, Please Don’t Go.” After leaving AC/DC, he joined Rabbit, whose dynamic live shows earned them a record deal with CBS and international exposure in Europe and Japan.
Following Rabbit’s breakup in 1978, Evans continued performing, forming Dave Evans & Thunder Down Under and releasing numerous solo albums including Sinner, Judgement Day, and Revenge with John Nitzinger. His career earned him recognition worldwide, including nominations at the LA Music Awards and Music Industry Awards UK, and in 2018, he received the Key to the City of Tenaha, Texas, where he was made an honorary police officer.
Today, Evans continues to tour across Europe, the U.S., and Latin America, celebrating 50 years of rock and proving that his fire for music still burns as strong as ever.
