Numerous celebrities have opened up about their personal experiences and stories as wildfires rage over Los Angeles County, affecting thousands of families and exposing the emotional toll of the tragedy. Residents are rushing to flee their houses as a result of the devastating damage caused by the fires, which were fanned by strong Santa Ana winds and spread throughout the region, including to some of the wealthiest neighborhoods like Pacific Palisades. Numerous well-known people have joined in expressing their grief and thankfulness for their own and their loved ones’ safety as the flames continue to spread at frightening rates.
Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton Speak Out About Their Losses
Actor Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice, were devastated when their Pacific Palisades home was destroyed by the fires. “Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing,” Crystal said in a statement to ABC News. He added, “We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy.” The couple had lived in the house since 1979, raising their children and grandchildren there, and Crystal emphasized the lasting memories that can never be taken away despite the material loss. “Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away,” he shared.
Paris Hilton also experienced a similar tragedy. Her representative confirmed that her Malibu home was destroyed in the flames. “Heartbroken beyond words. Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” Hilton posted on Instagram. She reflected on how the house was filled with precious memories, including her son Phoenix’s first steps, and expressed her gratitude that her family was safe. Hilton also reached out to nonprofit organizations to see how she could help the community rebuild.
Other Celebrities Affected by the Fires
Many other celebrities have shared similar stories of devastation. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, stars of The Hills, posted emotional updates on social media, with Heidi tearfully expressing, “I’m so sad our house is gone.” Spencer also shared that his parents’ house had been destroyed. Meanwhile, actor Cameron Mathison showed the aftermath of the fire in an Instagram video, revealing that his family’s home had burned down, though he was thankful that they were safe. “This is what’s left of our beautiful home,” he wrote, mentioning how the house was where they had raised their children and hoped to see their future grandkids.
Josh Gad, known for his role in Frozen, posted a video of the fire, expressing his appreciation for the first responders battling the inferno. “My deepest gratitude and appreciation goes out to our brave fire and rescue and police forces who are doing everything in their power to keep the residents of Los Angeles safe right now,” Gad wrote.
Evacuations and Relief Efforts
Other well-known names, including Police Academy star Steve Guttenberg and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt, have also commented on the wildfires, with both praising the first responders for their tireless efforts. Guttenberg called the fire “unbelievable,” describing it as the worst he’d ever seen. He emphasized how disasters like this affect everyone equally, saying, “Doesn’t matter how much money you have or what kind of car you drive or what kind of house you live in, everybody’s the same in a crisis like this.”
Chris Pratt also posted on Instagram, sending prayers and strength to those impacted by the fires. “Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife,” he wrote, alongside a series of images from the fires.
Mark Hamill, who starred as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, shared a post urging people to “STAY SAFE!” as he and his family evacuated from Malibu to safety at his daughter’s house. Mandy Moore, too, posted that she and her family, including her children and pets, had evacuated their home and were safe.
The Widespread Impact on LA County
The loss of homes is just one aspect of the devastation caused by the wildfires that are now raging over Southern California. In addition to destroying houses and businesses, the fire has forced thousands of people to flee their homes. The Pacific Palisades, an extremely wealthy suburb where many celebrities reside, saw one of the fire’s most notable effects. Residents had to swiftly leave as the fires quickly spread and consumed large areas of land.
The entertainment sector has also been impacted by the fires. Due to safety concerns, the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were postponed and the event was restructured from an in-person meeting to a press release format. Although many people are still affected by the flames, there is still a noticeable sense of support and community in LA County.
