Trailer Debut and Key Details

A new trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere has been released, showcasing a deeper look at the upcoming biopic. The film stars Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as producer Jon Landau. After strong praise at the Telluride Film Festival, it will premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 28 and open the 39th AFI Fest in Los Angeles on October 22.

In the trailer, White as Springsteen says, “It’s a hard thing, realizing people aren’t who you want them to be.” He adds, “Song writing is a funny thing. It’s about searching for something. Something that’s going to give your life a little bit of meaning.”

Story and Inspiration

Written and directed by Scott Cooper, the film adapts Warren Zanes’ book about the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska. The album was recorded alone on a four-track recorder in Springsteen’s bedroom while he faced depression. Its quiet, serious sound marked a change from his earlier work.

Cooper said, “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope. It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey.”

Cast and Characters

Jeremy Allen White called the chance to play Springsteen “incredible, challenging, and a dream come true,” adding, “We all had Bruce’s blessing on this film.” Jeremy Strong highlighted the friendship at the heart of the story, saying, “Jon was, of course, deeply invested in Bruce as an artist, but he was also deeply invested in his friend’s happiness and well-being and his struggles with mental health. I see Jon as the Lewis to Bruce’s Clark.”

Supporting roles include Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father Doug, Odessa Young as early love interest Faye, Gaby Hoffmann as his mother Adele, Marc Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin, Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive Al Teller.
