Brian Setzer & Marty Stuart The House Is Rockin’
“The Houses is Rockin‘” was featured on In Step, Vaughan’s fourth and final studio album with Double Trouble. Vaughan would go on to record one last album with his brother before his untimely death.
The title is a play on a popular bumper sticker of the 1970s, which said, “If this van’s a-rockin’, don’t bother knockin’.” You see, vans were all the rage in the early ’70s, and part of their allure was that they could be used as an impromptu place for a “quickie.”
The album title, In Step, is a reference to Vaughan’s recovery from substance abuse. It’s also handy to refer to dancing steps, which brings me to this awesome cover by Brian Setzer and Marty Stuart.
Brian has always had that light-hearted, fun, up-beat style and energy about him. I can remember hearing his Christmas covers come on the radio during the holidays, and man, were they catchy! I think he does a great job covering this song. He’s always been a bluesy player, and he has the perfect amount of heart to make this a great tribute.
Enjoy!
+The House is Rockin’ lyrics below+
Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
If the house is a rockin’, don’t bother, come on in
Kick off your shoes start losin’ the blues
This old house ain’t got nothin’ to lose
Seen it all for years, start spreadin’ the news
We got room on the floor, come on baby shake sumpin’ loose
Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
Walkin’ up the street you can hear the sound
Of some bad honky tonkers really layin’ it down
They’ve seen it all for years and ‘ave got nothin’ to lose
So get out on the floor shimmy ’til you shake sumpin’ loose
Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
I said the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
