Brian May recently suffered a minor stroke that momentarily left him unable to move his left arm. The legendary Queen guitarist, now 77, kept the news private initially, not wanting to attract public attention. However, he has assured fans that he is on the path to a full recovery, following doctors’ orders to rest easy.
โThe good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,โ May shared in a social media video, referring to his recent health scare.
โI say this because it was in some doubt, because [a] little health hiccupโฆ happened about a week ago โ what they called it was a minor stroke.โ
May described the experience as sudden and frightening: โAll of a sudden, out of the blue, I didnโt have any control over this arm. So it was a little scary, I have to say.โ He expressed gratitude to the hospital staff who cared for him, even humorously noting the โblue lights flashing, the lotโ as being โvery exciting.โ
The guitarist revealed he initially chose not to speak about the incident because he didnโt want the attention or sympathy. He explained:
โI didnโt want anything surrounding it. I really donโt want sympathy โ please donโt do that, because itโll clutter up my inbox, and I hate that.โ
May is taking his recovery seriously and adhering strictly to medical advice. โIโm okay and doing what Iโm told, which is basically nothing. Iโm grounded; Iโm not allowed to go out, drive, get on a plane; Iโm not allowed to raise the heart rate too high. But I am good,โ he assured his fans.
Just last month, May appeared on BBC TV to host a documentary titled Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers And Me, where he continued his campaign against badger culling. May has been a strong advocate for alternative methods to prevent the spread of bovine tuberculosis without harming badgers, and his latest project reflects his ongoing commitment to this cause.
