Bonzo: The Groove Remains The Same, 2010
It’s become pretty clear that talent runs in the Bonham bloodline; Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is one of the most celebrated rock drummers in history and his son Jason follows in his dad’s footsteps, even taking his rightful place behind the kit for Zeppelin’s reunions. There’s another Bonham in the family doing the clan proud, though, and it’s Bonzo’s baby sister Deborah! Just 6 years old when Led Zeppelin was formed, Deborah adored her big brother and since his death in 1980 has worked alongside her sister-in-law Pat, nephew Jason and niece Zoe to preserve John’s legacy, taking the stage with her wildly impressive voice over the years for stunning renditions of Led Zeppelin classics.
Fun Fact: Deborah recorded her very first demo at 17 under the watchful eye of her friend and mentor, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.
Our favorite, however, is her performance of the bluesy “Since I’ve Been Loving You” performed at 2010’s Bonzo: The Groove Remains The Same 30th anniversary tribute concert in Los Angeles. With Pat, Jason, and Zoe Bonham in attendance, Deborah delivered a tribute worthy of a standing ovation – one full of power and a lifetime of celebrating her hero that we’re sure every Led Zeppelin can appreciate!
