In The Works

Paramount Pictures, production company/financier Sister and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners with Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King are working to bring the Bee Gees journey into the big screen. King’s GK Films already secured the rights to the Gibb brothers’ story and also their music rights so the film will feature some of the group’s biggest hits. They’re still looking for a writer but The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Spielberg will definitely be involved in the movie.

Aside from the green light, there are no details announced yet including the director, casting, and possible release date.

The Bee Gees are one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 220 million records sold worldwide. But their rise to fame wasn’t without hurdles. They had their fair share of highs and lows especially as brothers. In 2013, Barry Gibb told The Guardian: “There was this deep, emotional competition between three brothers that had found themselves to be famous and didn’t understand it.”

While Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t the first rock biopic to be made, it certainly set the bar high for others that followed it. Then again, Rocketman was a huge success too. And so we can’t help but feel excited with King’s new project. It’s something we’ll be looking forward to.
