Blondie is prepping a new EP and concert film titled “Blondie: Vivir En La Habana”. Premiering in June at England’s Sheffield Doc Fest, it will also be shown at New York’s Tribeca Festival from June 9 to June 20. Meanwhile, the EP is slated for release on July 16.

Directed by Rob Roth, the film follows the band during their 2019 performance in Cuba. They were invited to perform at a four-day cultural exchange event in Havana through the Cuban Ministry of Culture. It was their first time in the country and they played two concerts featuring three local musicians who Debbie Harry noted “added a terrific level of excitement to our songs”.

“We’re hoping to try to sort of semi-integrate ourselves into the community and maybe do some performances and jamming prior to the official concerts for the local community,” drummer Clem Burke told Rolling Stone magazine. “I really don’t know what to expect other than there’s a common denominator when you’re playing music.”

“Being from New York City, we were fortunate that it’s a melting pot of musical ideas, nationalities, ethnicities and cultures,” Harry added. “It doesn’t seem so far-fetched that we would adopt some of those feelings into what we do.”
