It’s never a small thing for Blink-182 especially when it comes to helping out in times of crisis. They’re ready to step up on stage to support wildfire relief efforts in Southern California. The legendary trio of Travis Barker, Tom DeLonge, and Mark Hoppus announced a special one-night charity event on Monday, January 27.
A Musical Evening for a Cause
Live Nation is producing the benefit event, which will be held at the Hollywood Palladium on February 13. Every dollar of ticket sales will go directly to charities that aid wildfire victims, so Blink-182 is going all out. The California Fire Department, the ARC Firefighter Fund, the Pasadena Humane Society, and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation are among the recipients.
Joining them as openers is the punk band Alkaline Trio, which features former Blink-182 member Matt Skiba alongside Dan Andriano and Atom Willard. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. PT via Ticketmaster, so fans should act fast!
Wildfire Devastation Hits Home
The timing of this concert couldn’t be more critical. Early in January, a fire broke out in Pacific Palisades and quickly spread to other parts of Los Angeles County, leaving the county still in shock. Numerous homes and buildings have been damaged, thousands of residents have been forced to relocate, and at least 27 people have died as a result of the terrible devastation.
Blink-182 joins a growing list of artists stepping up to help. Stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish will perform at a FireAid benefit on January 30, while Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and The Weeknd have made generous donations to relief and rebuilding efforts.
Honoring the Real Heroes
Drummer Travis Barker has also been vocal about his admiration for incarcerated firefighters working on the frontlines. Earlier this month, he posted heartfelt Instagram Stories featuring these unsung heroes, writing:
“These guys are heroes. They are risking their lives to serve people. Save people. Help people. And becoming men in the process.”
With Blink-182 at the forefront, this charity event is certain to have a significant influence and serve as a reminder of the unifying force of music. Don’t pass up the opportunity to rock out for a worthy cause.
