A Casual Update That Surprised Fans
Billy Idol surprised his fans with a fresh take on a classic rock song, stepping outside his usual catalog to revive a beloved track from The Doors. Coming right after Thanksgiving, the British rocker shared a casual but moving performance that felt both nostalgic and new.
In an Instagram post, the 69-year-old singer uploaded a video of himself performing an acoustic rendition of “You’re Lost Little Girl,” a 1967 track from The Doors’ album Strange Days. His relaxed setup and stripped-down style brought out the calm and dreamy tone of the original song.
A Raw and Unpolished Performance
Idol kept his cover simple, performing with just an acoustic guitar and a soft delivery that highlighted the mood of the psychedelic classic. He explained that the performance was completely spontaneous, even apologizing for any small slip-ups.
“Tried your last little girl a doors song early this morning, just woken up a little tired about it, if you don’t mind that a couple of mistakes, it gives a crap about them really it’s just for a laugh-BFI,” he captioned the post.
Fans Respond with Warmth and Support
The comment section quickly filled with messages from fans who enjoyed his relaxed take on the song. For many, the unpolished feel made the performance even more personal. “I liked the ‘mistake’ lol thanks for sharing Billy,” one person wrote.
“No filters, no editing, raw and talented @billyidol,” another added. Others shared how the video brightened their day, with one user saying, “Made my morning. Thank you, Billy Idol,” while another posted a simple one-word reaction: “Beautiful.”
Praise for an Underrated Classic
Many fans also used the moment to express love for the original song by The Doors. One follower commented, “A truly underrated Doors song,” while another praised Idol’s acoustic take and said, “It makes you real legit. Never worry.”
Someone else echoed the same idea, writing, “Billy, it’s never any mistakes when it comes from the soul.” The overall reaction showed how personal, stripped-down performances often create strong emotional connections between artists and their listeners.

A Longtime Connection to The Doors
Idol’s cover also reflected his ongoing appreciation and support for The Doors. Earlier this year, he joined members of the legendary band onstage during their 60th anniversary event.
Hosted by original guitarist Robby Krieger, the celebration took place on October 30 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Fans in attendance enjoyed songs from the Morrison Hotel album, including “Ship of Fools,” “Land Ho!,” and “The Spy.”
As part of the show, Idol performed “L.A. Woman” with Steve Stevens and later joined Krieger for “Light My Fire,” which closed the concert.
