A New Look at a Classic Beatles Documentary
Disney+ is bringing back The Beatles Anthology this November, and fans now have their first look at the updated project. The streaming platform has released a trailer for a restored and remastered version of ABC’s 1995 documentary, which originally followed John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as they shared stories from their years as The Beatles.
The original documentary aired in eight parts, but the new edition expands the series with a ninth installment. This additional episode includes previously unseen footage of McCartney, Harrison, and Starr in the ’90s as they worked on the first Anthology films and albums. It gives viewers a closer look at how the band members approached revisiting their past during that period.
Updated Episodes and Release Dates
Disney+ will roll out the series over two days. Episodes 1–2 of The Beatles Anthology will premiere on November 27, while episodes 7–9 will arrive on November 28. The updated release schedule brings a mix of familiar material and newly added moments for longtime followers of the band.
Alongside the documentary, The Beatles are also preparing to release the Anthology Collection on November 21. This set includes the original three Anthology albums plus a new fourth volume, Anthology 4. The collection will be available digitally and in physical formats, including a 12-LP box or an eight-CD set.
The Anthology Collection Returns With New Additions
The collection brings together notable tracks from the earlier releases, including “Free as a Bird” from Anthology 1 and “Real Love” from Anthology 2. These songs, which marked the first new Beatles material in 25 years when they debuted, have now been remixed by original producer Jeff Lynne. The set also features “Now and Then,” the band’s 2023 release that became their latest addition to the catalog.
Anthology 4 will also be issued on its own as a three-LP or two-CD release. It contains 36 tracks, including 13 previously unreleased demos, session takes, and other rare recordings that offer more insight into the band’s work across different eras.
