The BBC has officially set a new release date for its long-awaited documentary Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which was postponed earlier this summer. Originally scheduled to air on August 18, the one-hour special will now debut on October 2 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Delayed Out of Respect for the Osbourne Family

The documentary was pulled just hours before its planned August broadcast following a request from the Osbourne family. At the time, the BBC offered limited details but later issued a statement expressing solidarity with the family:

“Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film.”

The original air date would have landed less than a month after the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, who died of a heart attack on July 22 at the age of 76.

A Final Glimpse Into Ozzy’s Life

Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home offers an intimate look at the Prince of Darkness’s final years, following his return to the U.K. with wife Sharon after decades in Los Angeles. The film also chronicles the lead-up to his farewell concert, dubbed “Back to the Beginning,” marking both his and Black Sabbath’s final live performance.

According to the updated BBC description, the documentary is:

“A candid and moving portrait of one of Birmingham’s favorite sons, and the remarkable relationship with Sharon… a moving portrait of a couple whose five-decade-long relationship has defied the odds, at a pivotal moment in their lives.”

The film promises never-before-seen moments and behind-the-scenes insight into the Osbournes’ personal and professional lives during Ozzy’s final chapter.
