Axl Rose Becomes Half-Human, Half-Robot in New Graphic Novel

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has taken on many roles throughout his career—rock icon, provocateur, front-stage rebel. Now, he’s stepping into an entirely new realm: comic book hero.
A new graphic novel titled Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction reimagines the legendary singer as a half-human, half-robot navigating a dystopian future. The book, published by Nashville-based Sumerian Comics, draws on Rose’s larger-than-life persona to build a world where survival is the ultimate act of rebellion.
Welcome to Paradise City: A Cyberpunk Universe
Set in a neon-soaked metropolis called Paradise City, where humans and robots co-exist uneasily, the story blends futuristic world-building with the outlaw spirit that has defined Rose’s public image for decades.
“Appetite for Destruction follows Axl Rose, a half-human, half-robot who lives on the fringes, and finds solace in the music of a back-alley lounge singer,” Sumerian Comics says in an official statement. “When she vanishes under mysterious circumstances, Axl’s search for answers drags him into a deadly conspiracy—one that could decide the fate of humanity itself.”
The project features illustrations by Frank Mazzoli (DUNE: Edge of a Crysknife, Rebel Moon: Nemesis), colors by Antonio Antro (Hell Is Us, The Offspring: Come Out and Play), and lettering by Micah Myers (American Psycho).
From Rock Anthem to Neon-Noir
Described by Sumerian Comics Co-Founder and series co-creator Nathan Yocum as “a raw, neon-noir fever dream,” the graphic novel is intended to channel both the rebellious edge and emotional grit associated with Axl Rose.
“Axl and I built a world where rebellion isn’t just attitude—it’s survival,” Yocum says. “It’s Axl like you’ve never seen him before, on the front lines of a battle for humanity’s future.”
Readers eager to jump into this cyberpunk adventure can pre-order the book now. Available tiers range from a 108-page standard edition for $39.99 to a $299.99 deluxe bundle that includes a map of Paradise City, a bandana, a t-shirt, a collectible coin, an Axl Rose figurine, a signed bookplate, and more.
A Legacy in a New Medium
The comic also marks a strategic expansion of Axl Rose’s cultural legacy into the world of graphic storytelling. Music publisher Primary Wave, which represents Rose’s interests, sees the book as more than just a one-off project.
“Primary Wave is thrilled to have a partnership with Axl and to extend his legacy into a bold new medium,” says Bart Saunt, SVP of Brand Partnerships. “This graphic novel creates a new IP centered on Axl’s iconic presence and uncompromising spirit, and provides a foundation for a larger narrative that will extend well beyond the page.”
What form that extended narrative might take—additional volumes, screen adaptations, or other media—remains to be seen. For now, fans can enjoy Rose’s latest evolution: from rock god to cyberpunk antihero.
