Country music’s very own Ingrid Andress has shared something big with her fans. She confessed that during her performance of the National Anthem at the Home Run Derby, she was not in her best state, actually, she was drunk. This event led her to make a tough, yet important decision to get help and enter rehab.

Public Apology and the Path to Recovery

On social media, Andress was open and honest, saying “I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is. I hear it’s super fun.” She made sure everyone knew how sorry she was and how committed she is to getting better.

This news has drawn a lot of attention. Some people started guessing there was more behind her performance at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, which did not go as well as expected. The singer, who is usually on her game, had trouble with the anthem from start to finish, leaving many to say it was one of the worst they’d heard before a big game.

Despite the tough time, fellow artists have rallied around Andress. Julia Michaels and Carly Pearce each left messages of encouragement. “Love you girl,” Julia said. “I’m sorry you’re going through this. And I’m sorry the world can be so cruel. Here for you xx.” Carly added, “I’m sending you love, Ingrid. Being this open takes a lot. You’ve got this. Hang in there.”

Career Highlights and the Backstory of Struggle

Before this incident, Andress shared a bit about her struggles in an email to her fans, talking about her upcoming single, “Colorado 9.” She mentioned dealing with depression after cutting ties with some from her early career days but found solace in returning to Colorado, her home state.

Her National Anthem performance quickly became a topic on social media, drawing comparisons to other unforgettable renditions by Fergie at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game and Roseanne Barr at a Padres game in 1990.

Andress is more than this moment, though. Since her second album, “Good Person,” came out in 2022, she’s opened for big names in music across different venues. Just before this event, she was on stage with legends like Stevie Nicks and had sung for fans at the CMA Festival in Nashville.

Her music career has been bright with four Grammy nominations up to this point, including for best new artist. Her song “More Hearts Than Mine” did super well as a top 5 country song, and she kept up the momentum with “Wishful Drinking,” a hit duet with Sam Hunt.
