Rest in peace, Frank.
Frank Fritz, one of the original stars of the popular TV show American Pickers, has died at the age of 58 following a stroke he suffered in 2022. Fritz, who became a fan favorite for his love of antiques and his relatable, down-to-earth personality, co-hosted the show alongside his long-time friend Mike Wolfe for over a decade. Wolfe confirmed Fritz’s death on social media, expressing his deep grief and reflecting on their decades of friendship and shared adventures.
Mike Wolfe posted this heartfelt message on his Instagram account.
“It’s with a broken heart that I share with all of you that Frank passed away last night.
I’ve know Frank for more then half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny. The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself.
Who would have ever dreamed we would share the cockpit of a white cargo van in front of millions of people interested in our adventures.
Before the show we would take off together to places we never knew existed with no destination in mind and just the shared passion to discover something interesting and historic.
We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home. I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know your in a better place”
Early Beginnings and American Pickers
Born in Davenport, Iowa, Fritz had a lifelong passion for collecting, which led to his role on American Pickers in 2010. The show followed Fritz and Wolfe as they traveled across the country, searching for unique treasures and rare finds in barns, garages, and basements. Fritz’s charm and keen eye for antiques made him an integral part of the show’s success.
Despite leaving the show in 2021 due to health issues, Fritz remained an iconic figure in the antique community. Fans admired his sense of humor, dedication to his craft, and his camaraderie with Wolfe. Many fans, friends, and colleagues have since paid tribute to Fritz, celebrating his lasting impact on both American Pickers and the antique world.
