Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has not ruled out the idea of the band reuniting for one last concert, as long as frontman Steven Tyler is healthy enough to sing.

The legendary rock band was forced to cancel their Peace Out farewell tour last year after just three shows due to Tyler’s serious vocal injury. The band announced their retirement from touring in August 2023.

Since then, Tyler has made a few select appearances, including a performance with Perry at the Janie’s Fund benefit event in San Francisco this past April. During a recent interview on Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, Perry gave fans a glimmer of hope for one final Aerosmith show.

“We’re Talking About It”: Perry on Aerosmith’s Future

Perry shared that he stays in regular contact with his bandmates and remains open to the possibility of performing again. He said:

“We talk probably a couple of times a week, and we played together up at a charity up in San Francisco.
“Chris Robinson was on the bill too, and it was wild seeing the two of them trading licks.”

While no official plans are on the calendar, Perry sounded optimistic. He said:

“We’re talking about it. I mean, except for anything on the calendar, we’re all alive and well, so we’ll just have to see.
“I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I’m not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one.”

Regarding Tyler’s ability to handle a full show, Perry added:

“I think he would. I think it’s just a matter of getting there, you know? I mean, we’re up there, man. And it’s a lot.”

He continued:

“I’ve always played like every show’s the last one. I hate to sound like it’s a downer, but I give it up every night, you know? The first gig we did for that [farewell] tour that got canceled, we certainly felt like it was gonna be another one, but, you know, shit happens.”

Hollywood Vampires Doc and New Joe Perry Project Tour

Beyond Aerosmith, Perry discussed his other musical ventures, including a new documentary in the works for Hollywood Vampires, his band with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp. He said:

“I just saw a rough cut and it’s pretty amazing.
“Right now everybody’s tied up, but I know that in the back of everyone’s mind, it’d be great to get back together again.”

In the meantime, Perry is preparing for a short Joe Perry Project tour this August. The lineup includes Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford, touring keyboardist Buck Johnson, Stone Temple Pilots members Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz, and Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes on lead vocals. Perry said:

“I’ve got enough left in me.
“I still wanna do [a final Aerosmith show], but right now, for this project, I’m gonna be taking it out and giving it up, and I’m just glad I got these guys to open up enough time to come along. So, we’ll see what happens.”
