New EP and Big Ideas
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry recently revealed the band is talking about doing a special show linked to a documentary covering their history. The comments came as the band released a new collaborative EP with Yungblud called One More Time. In an interview promoting the EP, Perry was asked if Aerosmith plans more shows with Yungblud or a final concert. He said:
“There’s stuff flying around; you know, ideas. The latest thing is that we’ve been talking about doing at least one show, somehow, some way, in conjunction with a documentary that tells the band’s story.”
Perry noted their different locations and busy schedules — Steven Tyler moves between New England and LA, Perry himself is in Florida, and Yungblud is touring in Europe — adding: “We’re still talking. … So, it’s been a lot of Zoom calls!”
Still Not Retired, According to Perry
Asked what the new EP might mean for the band’s future, Perry added:
“If this is the last thing that we do, it’s great. But I’m not retired yet. Steven doesn’t think he’s retired. Who knows? We’ve still got some juice left!”
That statement reflects the band’s uncertain but hopeful stance. While they have stepped back from regular touring, this possible documentary-linked show would give them a chance to revisit their legacy.

The EP and What It Means
The “One More Time” EP marks Aerosmith’s first new music in over a decade, and the new collaboration with Yungblud has stirred fresh interest. In an earlier interview, Perry praised the young artist’s energy and respect for rock history:
“I just got a vibe, ‘This kid’s got it.’ He definitely has an energy, and he loves rock ‘n’ roll. He loves that classic thing, and he loves being on stage and cutting loose.”
This openness to new collaborations suggests the band still has creative drive, even if they are no longer touring full-time.
What a Special Show Could Look Like
If the rumored show linked to the documentary happens, it would likely be a one-time event — a way to honor the band’s past while acknowledging their present state. With members living in different areas and commitments elsewhere, a full tour seems unlikely. As one source puts it: “It’s a long way to the top and staying there takes it out of you,” especially for a band with decades behind them.
Still, Joe Perry says he believes there might be “at least another Aerosmith gig,” even if it’s just a single show.
If it comes together, the mix of old fans and a younger generation drawn in by the collaboration with Yungblud could make the night a unique snapshot of where rock has been — and where it might still go.
