Big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida! After over 20 years of rockin’ rides, Aerosmith will no longer headline the iconic Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Instead, everyone’s favorite fuzzy musicians, The Muppets, will take the reins.
According to WDWMagic, this shift aligns with the recent closure of the beloved MuppetVision 3D experience at the park. While rock fans might feel a pang of nostalgia, the timing makes sense—Aerosmith retired from touring earlier this year, and Disney is looking toward the future.
From Rock Legends to Furry Icons
Rumors about the Muppets stepping in had been swirling, especially after the success of The Muppets Mayhem series on Disney+. The show, featuring Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band (and even a cameo by Tommy Lee in its trailer), set the stage for this big move. While we might wish another legendary rock band got the spotlight, it’s hard to deny the charm of Animal pounding the drums on this high-speed ride.
And there’s more to look forward to! Disney promises an exciting twist, saying:
“The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!”
A Look Back at the Coaster’s History
The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith opened at Hollywood Studios on July 29, 1999, offering adrenaline junkies a thrilling experience set to classics like “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion.” The ride features three inversions and speeds of up to 60 mph.
No closure date has been announced yet, so fans of Aerosmith still have time to experience the ride before its rebranding. Although Aerosmith’s chapter is coming to an end, the coaster’s legacy will continue to rock—with a little help from the Muppets.
