A New Action Figure Has Arrived

Mattel Creations has announced a new Jimmy Buffett action figure, inspired by his memorable cameo in the 2015 film Jurassic World. This unique collectible was unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego and captured the iconic scene where Buffett, clutching two margaritas, runs from escaped flying dinosaurs.

The figure re-enacts Buffett’s character, dressed in his quintessential island style, with sunglasses and flip-flops. Mattel highlighted, “Jurassic World fans and Parrotheads alike fondly remember Jimmy Buffett’s cameo.” The set places Buffett on a margarita-themed platform, surrounded by dimorphodons that “fly” around him as the base rotates, designed to resemble a tiki hut. The platform features interactive elements, lighting up and playing music, including authentic sounds like a whirring blender and the screech of swooping dimorphodons. Additional details include the infamous “lost” salt shaker, two margaritas, and custom artwork packaging.

In homage to Buffett’s charitable efforts, Mattel is donating $5,000 and 5,000 toys to his foundation, Singing for Change. The Mattel figure is priced at $30 and is currently available for pre-order, with shipping expected by August 2. Fans and avid collectors have to note, though, that there is a purchase limit of three units per customer.

Buffett’s association with Jurassic World arose from including his Margaritaville brand in the movie, adding a touch of realism to the fictional resort. The film’s creative team aimed to create a lifelike setting by featuring well-known storefronts, with producer Frank Marshall explaining, “We were excited to go and hand-pick who was going to be on the main street and the boardwalk, and we were lucky enough to get Margaritaville as the marquee restaurant.” Buffett’s participation extended to the movie premiere, where he performed his classic hit “Margaritaville” alongside actor Chris Pratt at the after-party.
