It’s Genius!
“Big Mouth” is a Netflix adult animated TV series. It’s based on the creators Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg’s life growing up as pre-teens “upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty” in Westchester County, New York. The first season was released on September 29, 2017 and the second season premiered on October 5, 2018.
In one episode, the ghost of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury sings “Be gay, totally gay / Be gay / Be a bright and shining rainbow.” And we can’t stop listening to it! It’s sassy, fabulous and so Freddie Mercury! It’s both catchy and funny. And aside from the brilliant and hilarious lyrics, we can totally see this passing off as a real Queen song. For one, the vocals are spot on!

Freddie’s talking voice is done by actor Jordan Peele but his singing is by Brendan McCreary AKA McKian. Even Kroll was blown away!
“You’re like, ‘How did we get Freddie Mercury?’
“Jordan Peele, who does the voice of Duke Ellington, also did the voice of speaking Freddie Mercury. But Jordan, while unbelievably talented, cannot do that perfect of an impression of Freddie Mercury. And Brendan’s is… I mean, beyond perfect.” – Nick Kroll
We’ve no doubt Freddie would have loved it!
