5 Songs From The Album “Agents Of Fortune” That Got Fans Hooked

Epic!
Blue Öyster Cult struck gold with “Agents Of Fortune.” Some of their most ardent fans scoffed at how they gravitated towards hard rock and heavy metal, instead of the prog-rock and avant garde style of their previous three records. Nevertheless, BOC achieved massive success with the album and it’s worth the hype. It’s an absolute gem in their catalog.
It has its own share of flaws but even those added to its beauty. Unlike its predecessors, “Agents of Fortune” was more polished and radio-friendly. There may be better LPs than this but it was truly a watershed moment for the band. Now here are its five best cuts:
5. True Confessions
An upbeat number, it’s an easy and fun listen too. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s rather enjoyable and indispensable. It has a bit of pop flavor.
4. The Revenge of Vera Gemini
It’s stellar, albeit a bit haunting and eerie. Patti Smith didn’t just co-write this but also contributed vocals. It may seem out of place at first but it’s definitely one of the essential tracks.
3. E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)
Catchy and just hands-down awesome, the lyrics are pretty interesting. The riff and solos are amazing too.
2. This Ain’t the Summer of Love
This energetic rock number is the perfect opener. It’s a solid track that helps set the tone of the album.
1. (Don’t Fear) The Reaper
It’s different from their early material but in a good way. It’s pure musical heaven and the band won over thousands of new following because of this song alone.
