Despite being one of the biggest music stages, rock fans have been left wanting more in recent years by the Super Bowl halftime show. Legends like Bruce Springsteen, U2, and The Rolling Stones have certainly existed, but where is the rock energy that is so forceful? Real rock ‘n’ roll should return to the Super Bowl stage, as many iconic bands are still performing today. These five vintage rock groups would do a fantastic job at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime performance.
1. Guns N’ Roses
Guns N’ Roses is a band that is ideally suited for an intense, stadium-shaking concert. Their set list would be an immediate hit with songs like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” and “Paradise City.” Slash continues to shred like no other, Duff McKagan maintains the flow, and Axl Rose still exudes confidence. An unforgettable performance would result from their enormous stage presence. It’s chilling to think about thousands of fans singing “November Rain” under the stadium lights.
2. Eagles
Despite not being the most popular rock band, everyone enjoys the Eagles’ songs. Songs like “Take It Easy,” “Hotel California,” and “Life in the Fast Lane” would create an unforgettable sing-along experience. They have demonstrated that they still have what it takes to draw large crowds by packing stadiums for decades. Their classic harmonies and renowned musicianship would create a sophisticated yet impactful halftime performance. The Eagles could offer nostalgia in a big way, which the NFL adores.
3. Metallica
Metallica would deliver a head-banging, thrash-fueled halftime performance that would be remembered forever. They could put on a show packed with unadulterated energy and incredible guitar solos with hits like “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets,” and “Nothing Else Matters.” Their high-production, pyrotechnic shows, which have been rocking stadiums for decades, blend in well with the Super Bowl’s spectacular spectacle. Furthermore, the globe is ready for a metal halftime show given their enormous fan base!
4. Queen (with Adam Lambert)
Queen’s music is pure stadium magic—just consider how many sporting events play “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.” Adam Lambert’s rendition of Freddie Mercury’s signature vocals has allowed them to continue the Queen heritage with incredible performances. A Super Bowl performance featuring “Somebody to Love,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” would be incredible. Their dramatic approach and catchy tunes would undoubtedly produce an unforgettable and moving halftime performance.
5. AC/DC
AC/DC is probably the perfect rock band to provide a high-energy, no-nonsense spectacle at the Super Bowl. Even if the stadium doesn’t have a roof, they would blow it off with their powerful riffs, yelling vocals, and irresistible intensity. Songs like “Back in Black,” “Thunderstruck,” and “Highway to Hell” are ideal for a heart-pounding halftime performance. Even after more than 50 years of rocking, they continue to be incredibly captivating. “For Those About to Rock, We Salute You” would be an incredible chant to hear throughout the stadium.
