24-Year-Old Jimmy Page’s “Shapes Of Things” Solo Will Bring You Way Back

24-Year-Old Jimmy Page’s “Shapes Of Things” Solo Will Bring You Way Back | Society Of Rock Videos

Timmy Page

Before Jimmy was the legendary guitarist of Led Zeppelin, he made his way onto the music scene with English blues-rock band The Yardbirds in 1963. Consisting of greats Chris Dreja, Jim McCarty, Keith Relf (Zongo) and Page, the Yardbirds were quite a success in the early 60’s, although it is clear from watching this video that Page got significantly better throughout his journey with the band.

Interesting Fact: Relf was 32 years old when he was electrocuted in 1976. His electric guitar was not properly grounded, and he died while playing it in his home studio.

Performing song “Shapes Of Things,” this is the greatest representation of what The Yardbirds were about- the music. With typical 60’s-esque vocals from lead singer Zongo, the band just gives off that chill, feel-good vibe and sound that takes you back to simpler times.

Despite the fact that the TV announcer totally botched Jimmy’s name, we will let it slide watching this kick ass performance of a baby Jimmy Page. Enjoy!

+ Shapes Of Things Lyrics +

Shapes of things before my eyes
Just teach me to despise
Will time make men more wise?

Here within my lonely frame
My eyes just heard my brain
But will it seem the same?

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today?

Now the trees are almost green
But will they still be seen
When time and tide have been?

Fallin’ into your passing hands
Please don’t destroy these lands
Don’t make them desert sands

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today?

Soon I hope that I will find
Thoughts deep within my mind
That won’t displace my kind
