When I was 11, I’m fairly sure that I was still having dance parties in my bedroom to whatever boy band was en vogue at the time. I’m now an adult woman pushing 30 and I can wholeheartedly admit that the young ladies you’re about to see are far, far cooler at 11 than I could have ever hoped to be! These talented youngsters – Lucy Gowen on guitar and her friend Emma Marie on vocals – tackled the Guns N’ Roses cover of Bob Dylan’s “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” in a beautifully shot music video that sees Emma belting out lyrics in the snow while Lucy holds it down on guitar, and they absolutely tore it up, you guys!
At only 11, these girls managed to pull off a cover of one of Guns N’ Roses’ most loved covers that both rocks and restores our faith in the future state of rock and roll music; as a guitarist, Lucy is next level as she pulls off Slash’s guitar solo cleanly, even going close up to show you that a) she’s actually playing and b) she’s playing it correctly. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself playing this more than once; Lucy and Emma are a force to be reckoned with and if they’re capable of playing music like this at 11, then the future ahead can only be impossibly, ridiculously bright.
