Gaga, Metallica Release Dress Rehearsal Video

I think we can all agree that Metallica got a raw deal at this year’s Grammy Awards. Between not having their name announced and the now infamous microphone glitch that silenced James Hetfield for the better part of “Moth Into Flame,” I’d understand completely if Metallica boycotted every Grammy event going forward and quite frankly, I might even join them.

Nearly a month later, the sound snafu still seems to be a source of frustration for both Metallica and Lady Gaga as fans never really got to properly hear how their joint performance of the Hardwired…To Self Destruct single should have sounded, resulting in another collaboration – this time, to release their official Grammy Awards dress rehearsal video to prove that not only would their performance of “Moth Into Flame” have rocked, Lady Gaga actually makes for a brilliant addition when her vocals are properly set against Hetfield’s.

Lars Ulrich shared to Rolling Stone, “Her voice, her attitude, her outlook on everything is so awesome. [The Grammys performance] was so effortless and organic and she just has the spirit of hard rock and metal flowing through her veins. It comes really easy for her. There’s nothing contrived; she just has this super warm, easy energy.”

It’s a dress rehearsal, so bear in mind that there are a few differences in this performance versus the official one you saw on Grammy night – outfits are slightly different, the crowd is virtually empty save for a few security guards and production directors and the entire thing seems much more rehearsed. Check it out in the video below and let us know if you can spot any other differences!
