“I Got Out My Trusty Blade…”

At this point, it’s pretty well known that there’s a bit of disdain between President Trump and The Rolling Stones. Just over a year ago, President trump used the song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” as part of his campaign without permission from the band. However, this apparently isn’t even the first time that Trump has gotten on the bad side of the band.

Renowned concert promoter Michael Cohl once told the infamous story of how Trump’s actions caused Keith Richards to actually pull out a knife. Back in 1989, The Rolling Stones agreed to a pay-per-view event at Donald Trump’s Atlantic City property. Apparently, Trump’s involvement in the promotional material was supposed to be limited, but Trump did not abide by that. This got Keith so mad that he actually pulled out a knife. Here is what Cohl said…

“Keith pulls out his knife and slams it on the table and says, ‘What the hell do I have you for? Do I have to go over there and fire him myself? One of us is leaving the building – either him or us.'”

Well, as it turns out, this story was just confirmed by Keith himself saying to BBC, “I got out my trusty blade, stuck it in the table and said, ‘You have to get rid of this man.’ Now America has to get rid of him. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”

So yes, things obviously still aren’t great between Trump and The Stones, but we certainly hope that they resolve their issues soon!
