Colorado rockers The Fray have proven time and time again that their versatility as a band knows no bounds, able to seamlessly shift their sound with a natural ebb and flow that so many others struggle to achieve. Sure, there’s nothing like hearing their fearless exploration of what it is to be human in a world that encourages being anything but through songs like “You Found Me” and “Heartbeat” – but there’s just something about the way these masters tackle covers that scratches an itch deep down in our souls, one that longs to experience classic songs through the eyes and ears of our favorite band.

From The Fugees’ “Ready Or Not” to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps,” The Fray have done it all – but ultimately it’s their cover of The Fray’s ever iconic “Surrender” that we find ourselves coming back to over and over again, a high octane performance at last summer’s Westbury Music Fair that found them itching to revisit the 1978 classic much to the delight of the audience that found themselves on their feet, singing and dancing from the first burst of jangly guitars to the final cymbal crash nearly 5 minutes later.

One of our favorite performances in recent memory, The Fray’s take on “Surrender” is one that just makes you want to get up and celebrate – it’s a rollercoaster ride of a feel good time, one that you’re bound to keep coming back to over and over again. Enjoy!
