Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Death in 1990 Announced on SABC News | Society Of Rock Videos

That Moment SRV’s Passing Was Announced

It’s been 25 years now since the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan. And still, not another blues musician has even come close. Today marks that fateful day as Stevie hopped on board that helicopter, headed hastily to Chicago for another performance. It was a disaster. A total mishap by the pilot, slamming straight into the side of a ski hill. In just one moment, we lost a legend. In just one split second, the blues industry would never be the same. This clip will take you back to that fateful day, where SABC reported the tragedy. Not only did SRV pass away, but several lives were lost. Some of Eric Clapton’s entourage, as well as the pilot. The cause was basically foggy weather at 1 am and a somewhat inexperienced helicopter pilot in sketchy conditions. SRV was only 35 years old, recently sober, and producing some of his best music at the time of his death.
