If Stevie Nicks thinks you’re cool, then damn it, you have made it. The 68-year-old songstress recently gave singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey the Stevie Nicks seal of approval by signing on to sing on Del Rey’s forthcoming fifth studio album, Lust for Life, and we couldn’t be more intrigued. Appearing on the album in a feature capacity, Nicks hasn’t revealed much – if anything, really – in the way of details regarding her collaboration with 31-year-old Lana Del Rey, but judging by Stevie’s otherworldly vocal aesthetic and Del Rey’s hauntingly retro sound that harkens back to 1950s and 1960s Americana, the final product is bound to be absolutely magical, giving way to what’s sure to be the most bewitching musical collaboration of the year.
Fun Fact: Lana del Rey also revealed her collaboration with the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Sean Ono Lennon.
We’re still waiting on an official release date for Lust for Life as well as an announcement and release of Stevie and Lana’s song, but judging by the commotion it’s raising with Stevie’s name attached it’s only a matter of time before the collaboration is revealed. Stay tuned to Society of Rock for more information as it becomes available but in the meantime, check out this mashup of Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” that someone made to get a feel for how their styles match up!
