Steven Tyler Takes Fans Behind The Scenes Of His Life

What’s left when you’ve done all there is to do?

If you’re Steven Tyler, the unexpected. In 2016, the 69-year-old rocker released his debut solo album We’re All Somebody from Somewhere, a labor of love that found Tyler enlisting the help of Nashville’s best and brightest to help bring his vision to life. While Steven worked tirelessly on the album he was also in the process of chronicling the entire journey for Steven Tyler: Out on a Limb, a documentary slated for a May 10th debut at the 2018 Nashville Film Festival.

We’ve got one of the first looks at Out on a Limb, courtesy of Momentum Pictures and if this doesn’t inspire you, we don’t know what will. Running at just over 2 minutes in length, the trailer takes you backstage and behind the scenes of Steven Tyler’s life, exploring the career choices that brought him to this moment.

Tyler took to Facebook this week to share the exclusive trailer for his new film, Steven Tyler: Out on a Limb.

What Out on a Limb  WON’T Tell You

With Steven’s 2016 country debut We’re All Somebody from Somewhere, you’ve got yourselves a pretty solid album and while Steven’s spark of madness isn’t present, there’s something here we haven’t heard before: genuine happiness.

Dot Records / Taste of Country

Tracks like the bright, upbeat “I Make My Own Sunshine” and “Somebody New” mark a point in Tyler’s evolution as an artist where he finally feels free to create on his own terms, a luxury that working with a band like Aerosmith doesn’t always allow.

On the other side of the coin, his cover of Big Brother & The Holding Company’s “Piece Of My Heart” allows him the chance to pay tribute to his idol Janis Joplin in the best way he knows how – through song.

While friends and colleagues offered insight into Tyler’s dedication and genuine love for music, one theme becomes crystal clear: when it comes to trying new things, Steven is downright fearless. He even touches on this himself at the trailer’s opening, saying “Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, rather than take a risk and be happy,” and coming from a man who’s reinvented himself and risen from the ashes of triumph and tragedy more times than we can count, this gives us a pretty solid indication of how he’s feeling about his life these days.

If you’re not able to be in Nashville for the May 10th premiere at the 49th Annual Nashville Film Festival, never fear. Steven Tyler: Out on a Limb arrives on VOD and Digital HD on May 15 through Momentum Pictures, and Music City will host the film fest at the Regal Hollywood 27 theaters all the way through May 19.

In the meantime though, check out the trailer just below this article and get ready with the sweet sounds of the song that started it all: 2015’s smash country hit “Love Is Your Name”!
