It’s been 24 long years since Ritchie Blackmore was a member of the legendary rock band Deep Purple. Since his departure, Ritchie has focused his musical career on something a little more eclectic – renaissance music.
Now you may initially scoff at that, but what you may not know is that Ritchie Blackmore is really, really well versed in this type of music. then again, that shouldn’t surprise you given that Ritchie Blackmore is just downright awesome. Still, fans have been chomping at the but to at least one more show where Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore are side by side once again, and believe or not, that may actually happen!
Ritchie Blackmore recently stated that he is open to playing a “single show” with Deep Purple for old times sake. Here is some of what he had to say to RocknRoll Reporter.
“I think if they were interested, and our dates would not collide, I would be, for a single show, because of the old times. But I don’t believe Deep Purple are interested in it. They have their niche. We are friends. I have been doing my music for 20 years, they’ve been doing it for 20 years. It’s probably not likely.”
Now, while Ritchie says that it’s not likely that he would return, stranger things have happened in the world of rock. We’ve even seen GNR reunite, so in my opinion, anything is possible. We’ll just have to wait and see, but for now, I’m just going to be excited!
