Santana – Oye Como Va (Live HQ) – AMAZING!

Salsa legend Tito Puente wrote this song and recorded it in the early ’50s. While it was a staple in the Latin community for years, Santana’s rendition of ‘Oye Como Va’ is the best known version and helped bring Tito Puente to a broader audience who may not have been exposed to his music otherwise. Tito loved Santana’s Latin rock spin on ‘Oye Como Va’, saying:
“Everybody’s heard of Santana. Santana! Beautiful Santana! He put our music, Latin rock, around the world, man! And I’d like to thank him publicly ’cause he recorded a tune and he gave me credit as the composer of the tune. So, since that day… all we play… is Santana music!” We think that’s a pretty high honor from the late Salsa legend!
‘Oye Como Va’ recorded by Santana was a hit, featured on their 1970 album Abraxos. If this doesn’t make you want to get up and dance, we don’t know what will!
